Biola completed a three set sweep in its second game of the Denali State Bank Ice Block Classic.

FAIRBANKS, Alaska --- After being swept on Thursday afternoon, the Biola Eagles (3-2) flipped the script and swept the Stanislaus State Warriors (4-2) in game one of their double feature on Friday.

The Eagles played a very well-rounded match against the Warriors. 48 kills came through for BU with seven different eagles posting a kill.

Meredith Fisher led the clubhouse with 14 kills and a hitting percentage of .423 on Friday afternoon. Dominique Kirton recorded 12 kills on 42 swings.

In Bethany Bellfi's first start as BU's libero, she led the team in digs with 17 of the team's 65. She had plenty of help as three other Eagles reached double-digits in digs, including Abby Brewster (14), Juliana Van Ommering (11) and Hannah Hanson (10). Hanson added to her day with 21 assists for her second 20 assist performance.

Set One: The Eagles and Warriors began the first set scoring back and forth including four lead changes. After being down 11-9, the Eagles went on a 13-4 run to take their biggest lead of the first set with the scoreboard showing 22-15. Stanislaus State responded, tallying six consecutive points to tie the game at 23. Back-to-back kills from Gracie Guy and Kirton ended the drama and gave BU the victory in the first set (25-23).

Set Two: Big swings defined the set, as the match remained closely contested. Biola offered the first strong rally where they recorded five points in a row. The Warriors answered with a seven-point streak to take a 9-6 lead. The final swing on the scoreboard was in favor of Biola who finished the set winning the final three rallies. Kirton led the way with a kill to earn the sideout and an ace to clinch the second 25-23 set.

Set Three: With Biola just one set away from a sweep, Stanislaus State brought the pressure in game three and kept the score close with the biggest lead being by four points. The score was tied at 23 again and instead of this set ending with a 25-23 final score, it went on far beyond the previous two sets. The Eagles and Warriors kept scoring and tying it up until 28, when Biola took off from there. Juliana Van Ommering nailed the ball to the middle back of the court for the 30th point to give the Eagles a victorious score of 30-28.

The Eagles will play again Friday evening at  8:30 pm PT as they take on the host squad, Alaska Fairbanks in the Denali State Bank Ice Block Classic.
