IRVINE, Calif. --- Second year star, Bri Bellfi showed out in the Seaside Invitational with her defense in the back row. The BU libero started off 2023 with a personal-best mark on her way to the PacWest Defender of the Week award. 

Bellfi made an immediate impact after joining the Eagles as a freshman last season. 2023 saw her continued success in match number one against CSU San Bernardino.

In the season opener, Biola won with a reverse sweep against the Yotes. The five-set thrilling victory was aided by a masterful performance from Bellfi. The sophomore nabbed a career-best 28 digs, including 13 in the final two sets.

She added to her totals in the Seaside Invitational with 16 digs in a win over Seattle Pacific and 22 against Lewis. The duo of 20 dig showings nearly gets her halfway to her total in 2022 with five such performances last season.

The assists also came through for Bellfi, who tallied 21 through the three matches with a pair of eight-assist outings that ended the week.

Biola volleyball will be back on the court in the Alaska Fairbanks Invitational set to begin on Thursday at 12pm against Lander.
