Box Score LA JOLLA, Calif. --- Once again, the Eagles (0-3) jumped into the pool in opposition to a top-20 team. This time the BU squad faced off against 10th-ranked UC Irvine (2-2) and kept pace throughout the first half. The Anteaters took control late and came out on top with a final score of 18-7.

The two teams went step for step in the early going. In the first four minutes of the contest, UCI opened the scoring but Biola responded at the 4:16 mark with a goal from Maxwell Osborn. Nick Murray added a tally seconds before the end of the first, keeping the Eagles within reach at 4-2.

Nolan Rapp and Osborn kept things moving in the right direction after the short break between periods. The duo posted consecutive goals on the scoresheet to put the team just short of the Anteaters at 4-5. 

Both tallies were great executions on power play opportunities. The Eagles drew seven UCI exclusions in the first half and scored on two crucial advantages to stay within one possession of the opposition.

Unfortunately, the BU momentum stopped there. UC Irvine found its groove and put together a run of nine-straight goals, including a 7-0 showing in the third quarter.

The Eagles offered three goals in the final quarter but it was not enough to threaten the UCI lead. Murray netted his second score of the game in the fourth, along with Osborn nabbing his third and Kyle Seifen with his first of the contest.

Biola will look for its first win of 2023 at the Inland Empire Classic at La Verne on Saturday, September 9.
