FRESNO, Calif. --- The Biola tennis team came out hot at the ITA West DII West Regional Championships this weekend. The three day tournament saw top finishes across the different formats from the Eagles. The highlight of the trip came from BU newcomer Nico Ramirez, who was the men's singles champion on Saturday.

The opening of the tournament came on Thursday with the round of 64 kicking off the singles tournament. 62 players entered the tourney with Ramirez earning a first round bye with a second seed placement. He would go on to sweep his first two opponents to make the quarterfinal with ease.

In his first challenge, Ramirez delivered in a shortened third set. The senior transfer bounced back from a tough second set and came through with a 10-8 showing to move on to the semis. Once again, Ramirez completed a straight-sets win to move into the finals against the top-seeded foe. The finals matchup mirrored his quarterfinals match, as he took the first and third sets with a 10-8 scoreline in the third. 

With the win, Ramirez earned a trip to ITA Nationals in Georgia later this fall.

In the doubles competition, Alexandria Mann and Brooke Fager shined for BU. The duo survived the round of 32 and ultimately grabbed four wins to earn a spot in the finals. The margins were razor thin but the Eagles fell 9-7 to take second place at the ITA West Regional Women's Doubles Championships.

Ramirez also made a splash in doubles alongside Adrian Solorzano. Out of 30 pairs, the BU team made the final four in the semifinals with wins over duos from Westmont and Concordia.
