Eagles Face #8 Long Beach State

Biola found the back of the net nine times against Long Beach State on Saturday, falling against the top-10 opponent.

LONG BEACH, Calif.--- For the seventh time in 2023, the Eagles (2-7)  faced off against a ranked opponent. On Saturday, the team traveled to Long Beach State and challenged No. 8 The Beach at the Ken Lindgren Aquatics Center. LBSU (9-2) came out on top, defeating BU, 18-9.

Maxwell Osborn kept the Eagles afloat with nearly half of the team's goals. The senior tallied four of the team's nine scores, including three-straight for Biola. Osborn grabbed a fifth point with an assist, adding to his strong day in the pool.

The first period saw the game quickly sway towards the hosting Beach. Long Beach State scored the initial four goals of the game, leaving the Eagles behind at 4-0 after one quarter.

The Biola offense bounced back with two five-meter penalty goals from Osborn in the second to go along with an even strength goal from Adam LaVoy.

Long Beach State continued to apply the pressure, leading the Eagles in each individual eight-minute period.

Roman Saroyan nabbed two sprint victories on the day, while Mitchell Carpenter added to the defensive effort with seven saves.

The Eagles will be back in the pool on Saturday afternoon, facing Long Beach City College in a scrimmage at 3:00 pm.
