VISTA, Calif. --- The Inland Empire Classic was a success for the BU men's water polo squad this past weekend. Mitchell Carpenter played a major role for Biola in the weekend tournament, helping him to a WWPA Defensive Player of the Week award. 

The BU goalkeeper used his lengthy wingspan to protect the net for the BU defense last week. Carpenter saw action in three games and eight total quarters, totaling 24 saves. 

13 saves came against the No. 11 team in the country in UC Santa Barbara. He added another double-digit save outing against La Verne, helping the Eagles take down the host squad. Carpenter logged the 10 saves in just three quarters of action against the Leopards.

Carpenter and the Eagles will be back in action on Thursday for their home opener at 11:00 am.
