Eagles and Broncos Draw

The men’s soccer team played 90 minutes of solid defense in their 0-0 draw against Cal Poly Pomona at Kellogg Stadium.

POMONA, Calif.---The Biola men's soccer team played 90 minutes of solid defense in their 0-0 draw against the United Soccer Coaches' 22nd best team in the nation, Cal Poly Pomona, at Kellogg Stadium.

"I couldn't be more proud of the committed defensive performance that our guys showed tonight," stated head coach Joey O'Keefe. "We faced a top-tier opponent and went toe-to-toe with them. We proved a lot to ourselves and the biggest takeaway from tonight was the self belief that was earned from a hard fought battle."

Neither team was able to find the net tonight at Kellogg Stadium, but that wasn't from a lack of trying. Biola dug deep on defense, holding off all of CPP's offensive attempts which included 15 corner kick opportunities. The Broncos fired 11 shots at BU's goalkeeper, Gijs van Schouten, two of which were saved by the Netherlands native in the 68th and 70th minutes.

The Eagles supplied six shots against Cal Poly Pomona. Ethan Hardin and Quintin Benn-John had two each and Tom Irion and Justin Eisenmann contributed one.

Biola's defensive line was composed of Adrian Acevedo, Luke Quinn, Irion, and Tomislav Jozinovic who all saw 90 minutes of action.

Dylan Memory, Hardin and Benn-John also played 90 minutes in the air-tight match.

Next Up: The Eagles take on CSU San Bernardino on Saturday, Sep. 2 at 7 p.m. at Al Barbour Field.
