LA MIRADA—Fall is finally here for the men's water polo team who's jumping into their 32-game season in just 15 days. The Eagles are scheduled to play nine games in La Mirada throughout the 2023 season, including a six-game home stretch in the beginning of October.
"We have intentionally lined up an incredibly competitive schedule for this season," reflected head coach Rick Nordell. "We will be playing games against top notch DI schools who are perennially ranked in the top 20 in the nation. We are using this tough schedule to prepare us for our conference this year, which for the first time in program history will be all DII schools. This gives us an opportunity to contend for a spot in the NCAA DI national championship tournament."
The Eagles start the year away on Saturday, Sep. 2 at the Triton Invite where they are scheduled to play four competitions. Biola will then continue the action Saturday, Sep. 9 at the Inland Empire Classic where they will face Austin College, UC Santa Barbara, and La Verne.
Next up for the men's water polo team is their home opener against California Baptist where the Eagles and Lancers will face off on Thursday, Sep. 14 at 11 a.m. at the Splash Aquatic Center.
The Eagles will then spend the rest of September on the road, fitting in 12 away games.
Opening the month of October, Biola begins a six-game home stretch with consecutive matches against Concordia University Irvine, Fresno Pacific, Toronto, Westcliff, Santa Clara and Loyola Marymount. Their first game in October against CUI is Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 1 p.m. and their last game of their home stand is Saturday, Oct. 7 at 4 p.m.
The Eagles then have six games remaining in their regular season with their senior game set for Wednesday, Oct. 25 at 2 p.m. against Saddleback College.
Biola's final tune up before the WWPA Championships is Thursday, Nov. 9 at UC San Diego. Seven days later (Thursday, Nov. 16), the men's water polo squad will begin their conference championships in Lebanon, Illinois.
