LA MIRADA—The wait is almost over for the Biola volleyball team who is just 15 days away from beginning their 27-match regular season.
The volleyball team will open the new year with a seven-match away stretch, starting with the San Marcos/Point Loma Tournament and then the Alaska Fairbanks Invitational. The Eagles begin with host CSU San Marcos at the San Marcos/Point Loma Tournament and end the next day (Saturday, Sep. 2) with matches against Seattle Pacific and Lewis.
Two days later, the volleyball team will venture out to Alaska where they are participating in the Alaska Fairbanks Invitational. The Eagles are scheduled to play four contests in Alaska against Lander, Stanislaus State, Alaska Fairbanks, and Alaska Anchorage.
When head coach Aaron Seltzer was asked about their Fall 2023 schedule he reflected, "Our preseason schedule is difficult and I like the challenge that presents to our team."
Seltzer continued, "I don't know what to expect this year, so there is excitement in that too. We have a good group of young skilled players coming in that helped increase the level in the gym which is great and I'm excited to see how they impact our team this year."
When the Eagles return home from Alaska, they roll right into conference play which is also their home opener against Academy of Art on Wednesday, Sep. 13 at 6:30 p.m. at Chase Gymnasium.
The volleyball team will have another away stretch where they play six-straight conference matches on the road, beginning against Azusa Pacific and ending with a trip to the Hawaiian Islands where they will take on Chaminade, Hawai'i Pacific and Hawai'i Hilo.
When the Eagles return from Hawai'i, they will have five matches remaining in the regular season with their senior match against Azusa Pacific on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 1 p.m.
