VISTA, Calif. --- The WWPA conference offices announced the 2023 Coach of the Year honor on Tuesday and it was shared by two head coaches. WWPA Co-Coach of the Year was awarded to Sarah Orozco in her second season at the helm. The coach of the year was voted on by the eight head coaches across the conference.

Orozco guided the Eagles to the top spot in the WWPA during the regular season and followed that up with a tournament title. The conference crown gave Biola the automatic bid to nationals, marking firsts for the program.

The inaugural season of the BU women's water polo program came through under Orozco's guidance just one year ago. Year two was magic with the conference crown, a nationals appearance, and the co-coach of the year award.

Orozco also made history by being the first female coach in WWPA history to win the conference title and earn an automatic berth to the National Collegiate Women's Water Polo Championship.

The team's first nationals appearance will be on Wednesday, as the Eagles take on LIU at 1:00 pm in Stockton, California.
