May 23, 2023

KANSAS CITY --- Biola continued to add postseason accolades with more CSC Academic All-District honors given out on Tuesday. This time, the College Sports Communicators handed out the prestigious academic award to a team of at-large sports, including golf and water polo. The group of Eagles grabbed a total of eight awards between men's and women's squads.

The 2022‐23 Academic All‐District Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student‐athletes for their combined performances in the athletics realm and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All‐America program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Biola Women's Water Polo corralled three honors in the announcement on Tuesday with Lizzy Birch, Samantha Rainey, and Maria Roldan Gonzalez each scoring the award. On the men's side, Mitchell Carpenter, Matthew Rodriguez, and Nolan Rapp tacked on a third academic award this offseason with the CSC honor.

BU Women's Golf tallied the final two awards for Biola. Rachel Shaw and Brady Turnquist grabbed the honor with their combined success on the course and in the classroom.

Each student-athlete gathering the recognition shined on their team and in their academics. Players earning the distinction achieved a minimum grade-point average of 3.5, while contributing to at least 50 percent of the team's competitions.
