Eagles Shutout by Toros

The softball team was shutout 6-0 by Cal State Dominguez Hills at the Toro Diamond.

CARSON, Calif.--- The Biola softball team was stumped by the NFCA's 23rd-best team in the nation, Cal State Dominguez Hills, in the first game of the day's doubleheader where the Eagles lost 6-0 to the Toros. 

Cal State Dominguez Hills scored runs in the second, third and sixth innings. The Toros inflicted the most run damage in the second inning where they scored three runs off of three hits and one Eagle error.

The Toros improved their lead with another run in the third inning that put them ahead 4-0.

CSUDH scored their final runs in the sixth which was a pair of runs that increased their lead to 6-0 over BU. 

Biola was hitting their way on base, but struggled with advancing their runners. BU collected eight hits throughout the game which was only one less than the Toros. CSUDH's hurler, Alyssa Olague, was partly to blame as she threw a great game for the Toros. Olague forced BU to earn all their bases, tossing eight strikeouts, six flyouts and six grounders.

Kayla Bousquette started game one for Biola, throwing two innings where she allowed four hits and three runs to score. DJ Symons relieved in the third where she faced four batters and allowed two hits and one run to score. Kylee Messmer filled in for Symons and pitched the final 3.1 innings. Messmer allowed the Toros three hits and two runs to score. 

The Eagles and Toros are playing their second game, now, at the Toro Diamond.
