Walker and Johnson Named All-PacWest

Laila Walker and Aysia Johnson represented Biola as PacWest All-Conference selections.

IRVINE, Calif.---The Biola women's basketball team had two players represented on the PacWest's All-Conference teams.

Laila Walker was named to the PacWest's Second Team. Walker started in every game this season for the Eagles and led her team in scoring (336 points), three-pointers (69), and assists (89). Walker scored in the double-digits 17 times, averaging 12.4 points a game. She scored a career-high of 28 points and a career-high of six three-pointers in the Eagles' 71-55 win over Fresno Pacific. Walker also received PacWest Player of the Week for her combined performances against FPU and Holy Names. 

Walker's scoring and assists were also conference leading. Walker is the 11th-highest scorer in the conference and has the sixth-most assists, averaging 3.3 a game.

Aysia Johnson was a Third Team All-Conference pick who started in every game she played in but one. Johnson, a defensive leader for the Eagles, had a team-high of 43 steals which included a career-high of seven steals against Holy Names. 

The fifth-year graduate student also recorded 251 points, 156 rebounds, six blocks and two double-doubles in an overall great season. Johnson also scored in double-digits 14 times this season.

The Eagles aren't finsihed yet as they are headed out to Hawai'i to compete in the PacWest Championships. Biola plays Point Loma on Thursday, Mar. 2 at 4:45 p.m. PT.
