Pyle Powers Offense

Biola kept pace with No. 17 UC Davis for nearly 20 minutes but the Aggies broke loose late in the contest.

FRESNO, Calif. --- Saturday's double feature for the Eagles (3-9) ended with a battle against 17th-ranked UC Davis (7-7). The margins were slight throughout the evening, until a burst to end the third and start the fourth pushed the Aggies forward for a 16-7 BU loss.

Kourtney Pyle was the highlight of the day for the Eagles. The junior attacker was on fire with six goals in the matchup against UC Davis.

The offense revolved around Pyle and it came through clutch in the early going. UCD pushed ahead through the opening 12 minutes, outscoring the Eagles, 5-1. Pyle decided it was time and found gaps in the defense. The righty tacked on four-straight goals to go on a solo rally and carry the team back into the contest.

Three goals to end the second and one to start the third, knotted the game shortly after halftime. The Eagles had the momentum with 13 minutes remaining.

The Aggies returned to form and pressed back. After retaking the lead at 7-6, the Aggies took off. Eight unanswered goals created strong separation for UCD, helping them to the 16-7 final.

The seventh and final goal for BU came in from Marija Mijuskovic. The newcomer cashed in on an even strength goal with just over two minutes left in the contest.

Ava LoBue and Rachel Spadt added to the defensive end with two steals apiece on Saturday.

Biola will be back in action at the CSU Fullerton Round Robin on Wednesday.
