Game Two Gets Away From BU

MSU Denver found the offensive outburst in game two on Friday to sweep the day.

LA MIRADA --- A rough start was too much for the Eagles to overcome in a 15-4 loss on Friday afternoon. Biola (3-3) dropped game two of its doubleheader against MSU Denver (5-1) in a seven inning affair.

A combined 13 runs came through in the opening frame. Nine from the Roadrunners, who were receiving votes in the latest NCBWA National Poll, and four from the Eagles.

Despite trailing by nine after a half of an inning, the Eagles kept up the energy for their first at bat. Bobby Brown was quick to the trigger, leading off for the team with a double to right field.

Wyatt Duncan continued his tear at the plate, offering a two-RBI double from the cleanup spot. Sam Lisiak followed with a single to put runners on first and third. James Whitman recorded the RBI by scoring Duncan from third but another extra-base hit scored BU's fourth. This time it was Andrew Lujan in his first appearance of 2023. The second baseman logged a triple to bring home Lisiak for a four-run first inning.

After the first inning, the two teams went in opposite directions. MSUD went on to add six more runs, while BU was unable to get back on the scoreboard.

Two more Eagles made their debut on Friday. Jordan Brown and Chris McClean saw their first appearance with work in relief for Biola.

Biola baseball will complete its four game series with the Roadrunners on Saturday morning at 11:00 am.
