Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Ethan McGarvey, Sports Information Director

Cruisin’ into Christmas

Biola’s final game before break was a rout of Life Pacific on Tuesday night.

LA MIRADA --- For the third time in four days, the Eagles (8-4) took to Chase Gymnasium enroute to another victory. BU jumped out early and maintained a large lead throughout, as the team defeated Life Pacific (7-2) with a 97-75 final margin.

Biola continued its roll, extending its winning streak to four on Tuesday. The team's final game before Christmas was a non-conference bout that did not take long to swing in BU's favor.

After scoring the first five points, BU only added to its lead with an 11-point advantage through five minutes of play. Everyone was getting involved early with four different Eagles aiding in the team's first 13 points.

The Eagles broke the game open with a lead of 22 points before the 10-minute mark of the first half. The team was clicking on all cylinders, hitting 59.1 percent of their shots in the opening 10 minutes with four treys on six attempts. The defense also dominated in the stretch, holding LPU to 4-16 shooting and one turnover.

The boards were owned by the Eagles who doubled up the visitors in rebounds. BU grabbed 54 rebounds on the night compared to just 27 from LPU. 25 offensive rebounds made way for 32 BU second chance points.

Hunter Ruck led the effort on the glass, using his height for 11 rebounds. He also tallied seven points on Tuesday. 10 other Eagles followed Ruck with multiple rebounds in the win, including three from Scott McDowell who also added a layup in the closing minute.

Biola's lead peaked at 28 in the second half and never dropped below 15, as the team pushed forward for the 97-75 finish.

Tyus Parrish-Tillman was aggressive in the paint, tacking on 22 points for a team-high. The big man used his physical play and touch to score around the hoop with nine field goals and four free throws.

Double-digit points also came through for Nathan Medina with 18, Daniel Esparza with 15, and Casey Cappo with 11.

Biola will continue its homestand after Christmas, taking on Hawaii Hilo on Saturday, December 30 at 7:30 pm.
