LA MIRADA --- Abby Brewster was exceptional in her career at Biola and she will now take her talents overseas. The superstar is headed to Switzerland to join Volley Luzern, jumping into the professional volleyball scene, as the new year begins.

Following the Christmas season, Brewster will be packing up and heading out to Switzerland on January 1. She is a valued addition to Volley Luzern, as the team looks to pick up the pace halfway through its season.

Leaving Biola won't be easy for Brewster, who expects to be emotional when driving away for the final time.

"This program (Biola volleyball) has shaped me in so many ways. The competitive but Christ-centered and loving environment will be truly missed."

She will be graduating from Biola later this week, earning a master's degree in organizational leadership and public relations. 

An extraordinary career on the court opened up many opportunities for Brewster moving forward. The Lee's Summit, Missouri native finished off five years at Biola with 2,162 assists, and 1,009 digs, while also pulling First Team and Second Team All-PacWest distinctions in her final two seasons on the court.

When she began to look to play on the international professional scene, Brewster had a convenient role model and mentor. Her sister, Molly Karagyaurov, played professionally in Germany and Abby was able to live with her overseas for four months during that time.

As more offers continued to flow in, Molly put out feelers to additional teams in the area. With the big decision looming, Brewster relied on her faith and trust in God.

"I asked God, 'please make it clear where I am supposed to go,'" said Brewster.

Just two days later, her sister Molly connected her with Volley Luzern and the offer fit exactly what she needed. A few talks with the coach and Brewster had made her decision to move to Switzerland.

With the new opportunity on the horizon, Brewster said she is "excited for the challenge." There is a language barrier with German being the prominent language in the area where she will be but she is excited to experience a new culture and to travel. She has been looking forward to playing professional volleyball overseas since she was seven years old. 

Off the court, Brewster is ready to impact the community around her. She hopes to have a positive impact for Christ in a community that is in need of Jesus. She will also be helping coach a kid's team in her down time.
