Shortly after, Long Beach State would go on a 14-point run that distanced them by 22 points (78-56).

The Eagles would score three more times before the game concluded, cutting down the Beach's lead to 20 points which made the final score 82-62 in Long Beach State's favor.

"Long Beach State was ready from the opening tip," reflected head coach Alan Nakamura. "They showed great commitment to their philosophies and played very well. But we have a very coachable and unified group and we really rallied together and bounced back with a great effort for the rest of the game. I'm thankful for the character and camaraderie of our team - we'll learn a lot and be ready to play our best basketball in the conference challenge."
