Hitting Their Stride

Biola found success on Tuesday night, grabbing win number three on the season.

LA MIRADA --- The Eagles took to their home court once again, defending against the visiting SAGU American Indian College Warriors (4-3). The BU squad (3-3) took care of business in a 87-69 route on Tuesday night.

The first half played out pretty evenly for a good portion of the early going. Through 14 minutes, the two teams lined up on the scoreboard with 19 points each.

Biola found its groove over the next four minutes, leaping ahead with a huge run. The Eagles put together a 16-2 run, hitting six of seven shots on the way to the 14 point lead. Maximo Milovich picked up an and-one finish, while scoring seven points in the rally.

A short 8-0 burst from the Warriors before intermission did not deter the Eagles, who came out sharp in the second half. The team was on target from deep hit, knocking down four three-pointers to go back up by 13.

The onslaught continued, as an 8-0 run for the Eagles gave them a lead of 19 points halfway through the second half. A layup from Hunter Ruck put Biola ahead by 23 points with a minute and change on the clock, marking the game-high lead for the squad.

Casey Cappo paced the team in the scoring column, while nearing his second double-double of the season. The forward logged 18 points to go along with nine rebounds for a team-high in both categories.

Five Eagles reached double figures in points including Cappo with 18, Nathan Medina with 16, Milovich with 13, Daniel Esparza with 12, and Tyus Parrish-Tillman with 11. The well-rounded scoring gave the Eagles its highest team point total of the season with 87.

Parrish-Tillman stuffed the stat sheet and the opposing team's shot attempts, tacking on six blocks to his solid offensive output. The six rejections made for a career-high in a single game for the sophomore.

Another second-year player reached a career-best mark, as Medina dished out a personal-best six assists on the night.

Biola will battle SAGU-AIC once again on Wednesday, facing off at 4:00 pm inside Chase Gymnasium.
