November 22, 2023

IRVINE, Calif. --- The 2023 season for BU volleyball saw some great moments throughout and has wrapped up with a couple of postseason conference awards. Abby Brewster and Abigail Copeland each made an All-PacWest team in their final season in La Mirada.

Biola capped off the season in third place in the final PacWest standing with a 14-6 conference record. The final stretch was riddled with highlights for BU, as the team ended Point Loma's 16-match winning streak and secured a senior day win over Azusa Pacific on Saturday.

Abby Brewster brought more shining moments on the way to her second-straight All-PacWest nod. The Lee's Summit, Missouri native was named to the All-PacWest First Team following a career year.

Brewster did it all for the Eagles, playing in every match and competing as BU's primary setter and as an outside hitter. In 2023, the fifth-year player totaled 589 assists, 271 digs, and 210 kills. She was first or second in each category for the Eagles, while leading the team in assists and digs. The stat sheet stuffing resulted in seven double-doubles and five triple-doubles.

The 2023 season was the best for the five-year stud, as Brewster set season-highs in nearly every stat. In her career, she accumulated 2,162 assists, 1,009 digs, and 579 kills. Brewster notched her 1,000th career dig in her final collegiate match.

Abigail Copeland added to her fantastic career with a Second Team All-PacWest recognition. The BU middle blocker cemented her place in PacWest history, becoming the conference leader for career solo blocks with over 120 in her career.

In 2023, Copeland compiled a PacWest-high 41 solo blocks, while ranking second in the conference with 128 total blocks. She tacked on 11 blocks in a single match for a personal-best mark and notched four solo blocks in a single match, as well.

On the attack, the Olathe, Kansas native offered an efficient showing with a .317 hitting percentage. She recorded a total of 122 kills and played in all 27 matches and 108 sets in 2023.

Brewster and Copeland were a part of a graduating class of six, as the Eagles will also say goodbye to Meredith Fisher, Dominique Kirton, Mary McDonnell, and Emily Smith.
