November 14, 2023

IRVINE, Calif. --- The newest PacWest Career Solo Blocks record-holder earned the PacWest Defender of the Week award on Tuesday. The conference office announced the recognition for Copeland, following a week of 22 blocks and nine solo blocks and two Biola wins.

The end of the week saw four solo blocks for Copeland, who captured the PacWest record for career solo blocks. 122 solo blocks through five years at Biola put Copeland in the record books.

"First, glory to God, He's the reason for it all!" said Copeland on her record-breaking achievement. "I feel very thankful for this program, my coaches, my teammates, and most of all my family. They have been my biggest supporters my whole career. I hope I made my dad proud!"

The middle blocker started the week with a career-best performance in a win over Westmont. 11 total blocks and four solo blocks lit up the stat sheet for Copeland, who dominated play at the net.

Copeland went on to follow up her career-high in blocks with seven blocks against Point Loma and four against Fresno Pacific.

Copeland and the Eagles picked up a huge win on Thursday, taking down PLNU at home. The win for Biola marked the first PacWest loss for the Sea Lions this year, ending their 16 game winning streak.

Biola volleyball will be back in action on Thursday, facing Concordia on the road at 7:00 pm.
