Eagles Score Late Goal in Loss

The men’s soccer team was the last to score, but it wasn’t enough to comeback against Dominican in the Eagles’ 3-1 loss.

LA MIRADA---The Biola men's soccer team was the last to score, but it wasn't enough to comeback against Dominican in the Eagles' 3-1 loss.

Dominican (7-5-3 overall, 5-2-1 PacWest) reached the scoreboard first with a goal in the first half that was left unmatched heading into the halftime break.

The second half had a competitive start with a little under 20 minutes of scoreless action. The Eagles (5-7-4, 3-3-2 PacWest) were able to get in four shots in that time while Dominican took nine. With the momentum going the Penguins way, they managed to widen their lead to 2-0.

A little over three minutes later, Dominican would find the net again, expanding their lead to 3-0.

Through the adversity, the Eagles continued to push forward and would be rewarded in the 78th minute with a goal by Tom Irion. Irion scored Biola's lone goal in their 3-1 loss with Brennan Furlan getting the assist.

BU totaled 17 shots against Dominican, six of which were on-goal. Irion led his team with two shots on-goal and four Eagles were responsible for the remaining including Tomislav Jozinovic, Dylan Memory, Nathan Kovalcik and Caleb Castaño.

Nicholas Daniels faced 21 Dominican shots in the goal for Biola. Eleven of those shots were on-target and eight were saved by Daniels.

Next up for Biola is their senior game which is Saturday, Nov. 4th at 4 p.m. against Academy of Art.
