Box Score LA MIRADA --- Biola played back-to-back contests against Hawaii Hilo, one in Hawaii and then one in California and the two matches had opposite outcomes. After a four-set win for the Eagles (13-7, 9-4 PacWest) last week, it was the Vulcans (10-11, 7-6 PacWest) who came to La Mirada and picked up the five-set win on Saturday.

For the first time in October, Biola saw action in its home gym. The Eagles entered the night undefeated at home but came out with their first home loss in their sixth five-set match of the season.

The two set victories for the Eagles were dominant showings. The Eagles never trailed in the first or fourth set and put together a match-high advantage of 12 points in the fourth.

Abby Brewster was a star on Saturday, doing double duty as a setter and outside hitter. The graduate student scored at least two kills in each set, while dishing out 23 assists. On the night, Brewster landed 17 kills and a .500 hitting percentage to lead the team and added three block assists.

Set One: BU held an advantage from the first point to the last, boasting a set-high lead of nine. Abby Brewster ended a comeback effort from the Vulcans, finishing off a kill on the team's sixth set-point opportunity. Brewster tacked on four kills in the set, while four Eagles tallied multiple kills.

Set Two: The Vulcans answered with a strong 6-1 start to the set. Three-straight aces helped UHH to a nice early lead but Biola battled back. The Eagles went on a 9-3 run to take their first lead of the set at 17-16. UHH responded by winning the next five points, before carrying its lead to the set win.

Set Three: A close start broke open with five-straight rally wins for the visitors. UHH maxed out its lead at six before Biola cut its deficit behind the serve of Abigail Copeland. The senior added an ace in a 5-0 run, while BU came within one of Hawaii Hilo at 18-17. Once again, the Vulcans rebuilt their lead and capped off its second 25-21 set victory.

Set Four: The Eagles were not done yet. BU took a 6-6 tie and turned it into an 18-8 lead with help from three Dominique Kirton aces and three kills from Meredith Fisher. The lead ballooned to 12 points at 24-12, before Brewster brought it home with a kill for a 25-13 game four win.

Set Five: A five-set thriller fittingly came down to the wire with the two teams going even at eight points each. The tie grew to nine and 10 before the Vulcans erupted. UHH scored five-straight to create a match-point opportunity at 14-10. The Eagles staved off one chance but the Vulcans captured the win at 15-11.

BU will be right back at home on Monday, facing Hawaii Pacific at 7:00 pm.
