Eagles Fall Short in Battle Against Vulcans

The men’s soccer team battled with Hawaii Hilo, but would end up falling short in a 3-1 loss.

HILO, Hawaiʻi---The Biola men's soccer team battled with Hawaiʻi Hilo, but would end up falling short in their 3-1 loss at the Vulcans Soccer Field.

The Vulcans (6-5 overall, 3-2 PacWest) made their way onto the scoreboard first, but would be answered by the Eagles (4-6-2, 2-2-0 PacWest) in the 32nd minute.

Ethan Hardin took a deep shot from the center that sailed smoothly into the upper right corner of the net, tying up the match (1-1). Hardin logged his sixth goal of the season with the assist coming from Brennan Furlan who earned his first of the season.

With 13 minutes remaining and a clean slate, the Eagles buckled down on defense. Aidan Burns made a clutch save in the 41st minute that allowed Biola to hold the tie into the second half.

The second half proved to be challenging for the Eagles who would give up two goals to the Vulcans. The home team's goals occurred in the 56th and 58th minutes and the Eagles would be unable to catch up in the 3-1 loss.

The Eagles will continue their Hawaiʻi road trip with their next opponent being Chaminade on Thursday, Oct. 19 at 1 p.m. PT at Saint Louis Field.
