October 11, 2023

VISTA, Calif. --- For the first time since the WWPA Defensive Player of the Week was introduced, the Eagles have won both conference weekly awards. The duo of Nolan Rapp and Mitchell Carpenter were the ones to pick up the WWPA Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week awards, following four Biola wins.

The BU men's water polo team put together a six-game homestand last week, stringing together two conference games and four games co-hosting the CBU Lancer Joust. The Eagles were 4-0 to start the week, taking down WWPA foes Concordia and Fresno Pacific by a combined scoring differential of 14.

Rapp did it all for Biola with team highs in goals, assists and steals. The junior tallied 11 goals, while recording at least three goals in three different games. Rapp scored multiple points in all six games of the week with the help of 12 assists. He also added double-digit steals with 10 takeaways.

In the cage, Carpenter held steady with 60 saves. He nabbed the weekly honor for the third time this season, helping the team to four wins. 18 saves against CUI kicked off the week for Carpenter, who logged his 13th double-digit save outing of the season. Carpenter tacked on five steals and four assists in his impressive week.

The Eagles will hit the road for their next contest, taking on Fresno Pacific on Saturday at 6:30 pm.
