LA MIRADA --- Monday kicks off Biola's Athletics Week of Giving for 2023. The opening day is all about, "Thriving in Christ." Spiritual formation and growth in Christ influences everything about Biola Athletics and your gifts would go to enhance that goal for each and every Eagles team.

For every student-athlete that comes through Biola, faith, academics, and athletics are necessary focuses. The grounding force and the root reasoning for all that we do at Biola University is our belief and love for Jesus Christ.

That priority is seen throughout our programs from organized team activities to student-led ministries. Bible studies, communal worship, and athletics chapels are commonplace amongst the department as a whole.

Biola baseball has student-athlete Bible studies that have transformed the team over the past two school years. 

The group is led by Andrew Lujan, a junior infielder for the Eagles. Every Thursday, the team will gather together with one goal in mind and that is to grow together in Christ. They have been going through the book of Romans of late and have pulled together as many as 25 guys for a single Bible study.

"The goal of the Bible study is to empower the guys on this team to become believers of Christ who seek first the Kingdom in fellowship," commented Lujan. "Through this we also hope to become more adept at sharing the Gospel with others in different contexts."

Weekly fellowship with a focus on God's word has not only helped their walk with the Lord but has also helped their relationships on the team. "I have seen some amazing growth within myself and other individuals in these matters by the grace of God," added Lujan. "Our knowledge of the Bible as a whole has increased dramatically and our love for one another has increased as well as we continue to live out Biblical truth. Praise be to God and may we continue to be guided by the Spirit."
