Taking Care of Business

The women’s basketball team took care of business against Chaminade, bringing home a 65-49 win.

LA MIRADA--- The Biola Women's Basketball team took care of business against Chaminade, bringing home a 65-49 win against the Silverswords at Chase Gymnasium.

Chaminade (1-19, 1-13 PacWest Conference) scored the first basket of the game, taking a modest 2-0 lead. Biola (10-10, 8-4 PacWest) quickly answered back with a basket by Jordan Rabe that tied up the game, 2-2. The Eagles scored the next two baskets that gave them the lead which they built up to eight points by the end of the first (19-11).

Chaminade came back with a competitive second quarter where they outscored Biola 15-11 and efficiently cut down the differential to four points, 30-26.

"It was a sloppy win tonight but we were able to finally push the intensity in the third and going into the fourth, " reflected Laila Walker. "We'll be ready to play the full 40 next game and secure another win."

The Eagles came back from halftime hungry and went on to score 21 points in the third to CUH's nine. Natasa Radovic led BU's scoring with five points followed by Rabe and Jaci Bolden with four, Sydney Moran and Madi Chang with three and Aysia Johnson with two.

And a highly successful offensive third quarter gave the Eagles their largest lead of the game, heading into the fourth quarter up 51-35.

Chaminade turned it around in the fourth where they matched Biola in points, but it wasn't enough to overcome Biola's advantage. The Eagles stuck together and kept the ball moving in their eventual 65-49 win.

Walker led her team in scoring with 15 points, followed by Rabe with 12 and Moran with 11.

Biola plays next at home on Thursday, Feb. 2 at 5:30 p.m. against Dominican.
