OAKLAND, Calif. --- The Biola men's water polo squad will be returning to the pool for 2022, beginning their second season in collegiate play. Heading into the new year, BU was voted to finish ninth in the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA).

The Eagles collected 10 points in the WWPA preseason poll on Wednesday. Defending champs, UC Davis, came out on top of the rankings and was followed by UC San Diego and California Baptist.

In its inaugural season, BU netted three wins, including one in the WWPA Tournament against Fresno Pacific. The team is returning 16 players from 2021, while adding eight freshmen and one transfer.

Two key players returning to the BU roster are Mitchell Carpenter and Kenny Wulf. The duo ended up on the NCAA DII All-American list after fantastic 2021 campaigns. Carpenter used his length in goal with 251 saves and Wulf carried the offensive load with 42 goals scored.

Biola will kick off 2022 at a tournament in Annapolis, Maryland, taking on Navy and George Washington on Saturday and Mount St. Mary's and Bucknell on Sunday.
