IRVINE, Calif. --- It did not take long for Anna Aubele to find her place with the BU volleyball squad. The 2022 newcomer helped the team to two wins in the season's opening weekend and ultimately picked up the PacWest Player of the Week award.

The first conference weekly honors were announced on Monday, honoring Aubele for her stupendous performances this past weekend. 51 kills from the sophomore led to a 2-1 showing from Biola at the San Marcos Invitational, including a 3-0 sweep of the host squad CSU San Marcos.

"Anna had a fantastic opening weekend, carrying us offensively for key stretches in each of our matches," said Head Coach Aaron Seltzer. 

Aubele made her collegiate debut in 2021 for the Lipscomb Bisons but transferred in the spring of 2022 to join the Eagles in La Mirada. Through her first three competitions in a Biola uniform, Aubele accumulated 51 kills, seven aces, 20 digs, three assists and three blocks. On top of her impressive volume, she also notched a hitting percentage of .295.

The right side hitter capitalized on every opportunity, seeing action in all 12 sets through three matches, netting 4.25 kills per set. 24 kills against Saginaw Valley State was a career-high for Aubele, while staying efficient at a .352 hitting percentage.

"We have absolutely loved having her here at Biola and think she will be a huge impact for us," added Seltzer. "I was very proud of the competitiveness and leadership she brought with her."

Aubele and the Eagles will return to the court for the Cal State LA Invitational beginning on Friday.
