LA MIRADA --- The ITA came out with their final singles and doubles rankings for the 2022 campaign, detailing the NCAA DII All-Americans. Amongst the top-20 award-winners was Biola's own, Sebastian Herrera. The honor from Herrera marked the first all-american award in program history.

The Eagles have taken flight with a season to remember in 2022. The BU men's tennis squad put together its best performance on the court with 18 wins, while climbing as high as No. 19 in the national ITA poll. 

Herrera played an important role in Biola's historic season, dominating the No. 1 singles spot and teaming up with Carlos Solorzano in No. 2 doubles. Sustained success helped the junior capture the ITA NCAA DII All-American selection for the first such award in program history.

Head coach David Goodman was extremely proud of Sebastian's accomplishment, "I couldn't be happier for Sebastian. He's had an impact on our tennis program and team culture since he got here. It's fitting that he is our first all-american in program history."

Throughout 2022, Herrera faced off against the toughest of opponents, including seven matches against fellow ITA All-Americans. In singles play, Herrera collected 11 wins, which all came from the No. 1 court. 8 of his 11 wins came in straight-set fashion.

His best stretch came from February 19 through March 9 with five wins in six matches. Herrera started the strong six-match span with a win against another all-american in Ryan Nuno on February 19.

The final ITA NCAA DII Men's Tennis Singles Rankings featured five PacWest performers within the top-20. 

Herrera joined Paige Austin (softball), Hanna Jordan and Rachel Spadt as Biola's first team all-american award-winners this spring.
