LA MIRADA, Calif. — Biola Women's Water Polo had three Eagles earn NCAA Division II All-American recognition during its inaugural season in Spring 2022. The awards were announced on Thursday by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches.

Hanna Jordan and Rachel Spadt led the way for Biola, both earning All-American first team selection. It was the first ACWPC All-American selection for both of them.

Veralie Naranjo added to her season recognition by earning All-American Honorable Mention status.

The awards come following a very successful opening campaign for Biola Women's Water Polo. The Eagles finished third place at the Western Water Polo Association championships, using a monster second half to dispatch McKendree 14-7 after entering the tournament as the No. 2 seed from the west.

Biola went 13-16 overall and were 6-3 overall in games against WWPA foes between the regular season and postseason.

Jordan and Spadt joined this team as transfer students and brought immediate impact with them by landing among eight NCAA Division II student-athletes selected to the All-American first team.

Spadt was a dominant presence in the pool on the offensive and defensive ends, and she finished the year with the best shooting percentage on the team (.570). She piled on 49 goals and 62 total points while also having 30+ steals and 30+ drawn exclusions. Spadt was the only player in the pool to put up those kinds of numbers in both those categories.

Jordan was a team leader as a graduate student who came to Biola after a complete undergraduate career at rival school Concordia University Irvine. Jordan finished third on the squad with 54 goals and 65 total points. She was integral in the postseason scoring 3+ goals in both of Biola's wins at the WWPA Championships.

Naranjo ended up as a finalist for Biola Athletics Female Newcomer of the Year and was the Freshman of the Year in the WWPA this year. She scored 10 goals in the conference tournament to help her move into first on the team in points this season. Naranjo finished second in goals (57) and she had 76 total points due to her third-best total of 19 assists.

Spadt and Naranjo are both returning for the 2023 season as Biola Women's Water Polo sets its sights on the WWPA Conference Championship and a first-ever berth to the national tournament.
