June 01, 2022

LA MIRADA, Calif. — Just a month-and-a-half out from the 2022 MLB First-Year Player Draft, Oscar Serratos added yet another honor to his prestigious one-year resume at Biola.

The Eagles' utility player and PacWest Conference Newcomer of the Year earned All-Region recognition from the American Baseball Coaches' Association and Rawlings on Wednesday.

Serratos was named the All-West Region second team shortstop, joining 10 other selections from the PacWest Conference spread among the two all-region teams.

Serratos was the most exciting offensive player in the conference this season. His 14 homers and 23 stolen bases made him the only PacWest hitter to have double-digits in each category. He led the league in slugging (.667) and second in the league in hits.

He accumulated 136 total bases in Biola's 49 games, which led all PacWest players through the regular season. Serratos also ranked amongst the top-10 in the conference in runs scored, RBI, doubles, triples, home runs, stolen bases and on-base plus slugging percentage.

He ended his season with 17 multi-hit games, including four four-hit contests and four three-hit efforts. He had 11 multi-RBI games and added a 12-game hitting streak at one point in the season.

This is the first ABCA/Rawlings all-region selection for Serratos. It's the third ABCA/Rawlings All-Region selection for Biola Baseball. RobertAnthony Cruz and Larson Kindreich each earned all-region in 2021 before signing professional contracts.

The same is expected for Serratos who'll be watching for his name to be called sometime between July 17-19 this summer.
