IRVINE, Calif. --- The postseason PacWest honors were announced by the conference office on Monday. Oscar Serratos was tabbed as the Newcomer of the Year, while leading the team to three total All-PacWest honors.

The Jeff Calhoon-led Biola baseball team finished the season with six wins in the last eight games on the way to a 22-27 overall record. The Eagles wrapped up 2022 in the top-half of the conference standings with a 18-14 mark in PacWest play.

Oscar Serratos played a major role for the Eagles in his first year on the field for BU. The senior transferred to Biola in 2020 and spent a redshirt season in La Mirada, before making a splash in the 2022 campaign. The immediate impact resulted in the Newcomer of the Year award and a First Team All-PacWest distinction.

The perfect combination of speed and power made for an electric season at the plate, including a PacWest-best slugging percentage of .667. Serratos delivered 14 home runs, while swiping 23 bases to be the only player in the PacWest with double-digit totals in both categories. Serratos also ranked amongst the top-10 in the conference in slugging percentage, runs scored, hits, RBI, doubles, triples, home runs, stolen bases and on-base plus slugging percentage.

On April 8, Serratos made history for the Eagles with his showing at the plate. In game two against Concordia, the BU shortstop logged a single, double, triple and home run to complete the first cycle in program-history.

In the outfield, Tyler Baca picked up a Second Team All-PacWest honor. The junior broke out in 2022, setting career-bests in nearly every statistical category. Baca showed off his speed this season, tying for fifth in the PacWest with 16 steals

Through the first 20 games of 2022, Baca boasted a .422 batting average with a 13-game hitting streak. On the year, the centerfielder collected 13 multi-hit performances.

A Third Team All-PacWest award came in for Taylor Justus on Wednesday. The BU catcher saw his first season in a Biola uniform in 2022, after transferring from San Jose State.

His Biola career began quickly with at least one base hit in six of seven games. Justus also put together an incredible stretch from April 16-27, posting four-straight multi-hit games. Within the stretch Justus batted .563 with nine hits in four games.

All three Eagles made the postseason PacWest awards for the first time on Wednesday.
