Box Score
PASADENA, Calif. — Biola Women's Water Polo completed its most successful weekend in program history on Saturday as it capped the day with a 14-6 win over host school Occidental.

The Eagles went 3-1 overall at the Claremont Convergence tournament by finishing off with its first-ever 2-0 day on Saturday.

The Eagles were on point early in this one, scoring 11 first-half goals to hold a commanding 11-3 lead at the halftime break. Biola was scoring with such ease in the early running that Rachel Spadt had herself a hat trick before four minutes had even elapsed in the first period.

Spadt's third goal was the one that gave indication that the game's level of competitiveness was about to shift. Oxy had been playing Biola close until that point, even being within one goal at 3-2.

Spadt's third was the Eagles' fifth and was a part of a series of back-to-back goals with Veralie Naranjo separated by just 20 seconds.

After the second Oxy goal at 4:53 in the first period the Eagles rattled off eight-consecutive goals over an eight-minute span to open up the 11-2 advantage. The final two goals in that 8-0 run came from Ava LoBue, who accounted for three of the eight scores in the streak.

She, Spadt and Lizzy Birch each had a trio of tallies in this one to lead the effort for the Eagles. Paulina Cemo joined that bunch as the other Eagle with a multi-goal game. She put home a pair on just three total shots to log her first multi-goal effort of the year.

Biola shot .483 from the field in this one, making 14 of its 29 shots overall, including a perfect 3-for-3 on five-meter penalty attempts.

The win moves the upswing Eagles to 5-8 overall, while Occidental falls to 6-6 on the year.

Up next for Biola is the pinnacle home match of the whole season as they host a Cornerstone Cup battle against rivals Azusa Pacific. The Cougars were receiving votes in the CWPA rankings for much of this year. APU comes into the matchup now 5-5 on the season following a 2-2 mark at the Convergence tournament.

The match is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 8 at SPLASH!
