Box Score
CLAREMONT, Calif. — Head Coach Sarah Orozco's Biola Eagles will need to wait at least one day longer for the program's first-ever two-win gameday.

Fresh off the Eagles' 22-goal output in the morning game, the offense stayed hot to the tune of 12 goals in their second game, but this time it wasn't enough as perennial power California Baptist University picked up the 19-12 victory.

It was the similar scorers getting it done for Orozco and the BU team on Friday afternoon as Hanna Jordan, Rachel Spadt, Kourtney Pyle and Lizzy Birch really stood out.

The start of the game was about as exciting as it gets. The Eagles scored first, before back-to-back goals allowed CBU out front 2-1. After that, the teams traded goals seven times to bring the game to the first period break tied at 5-5.

It was a gorgeous near-side skip shot from Jordan that tied it at five with about 40 seconds left in the first. One of her three game two goals.

Scoring slowed significantly in the second period as both teams managed just one goal through the first five-plus minutes of play, keeping it once again tied at 6-6.

CBU then scored on back-to-back times down the pool to open up what was then the biggest lead of the game for either side at 8-6. Kourtney Pyle went cross cage with it and buried one assisted by Ava LoBue to get Biola back within one at 8-7.

The Lancers would answer with another set of back-to-back goals to surge before the halftime break to lead 10-7. Pyle showed her cannon by scoring from half-pool at the buzzer to tighten it up to 10-8, which was the score at the break.

Rachel Spadt scored from the point to open the scoring in the second half and get the Eagles back within one goal once more. Unfortunately, that was not a sign of how things would continue over the rest of the game as CBU outscored Biola 9-4 overall in the second half to take the win.

The problem point for Biola came right after they scored their 10th goal of the game. The Eagles saw the game slip from 11-10 to 16-10 as they conceded five-consecutive CBU scores.

Veralie Naranjo and Pyle scored the last two goals for Biola in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough to overcome that lone long run from California Baptist.

Biola drops to 3-8 following the loss. California Baptist improves to 9-9. The Eagles conclude their long road stretch with the final day at the Claremont Convergence Tournament tomorrow.

The Eagles will play twice at Occidental College's De Mandel Aquatics Center. The action begins vs. Chapman (5-7) at 11:40 a.m. and concludes against Occidental (6-4) at 5 p.m.
