Box Score

COMMERCE, Calif. —- Thirty-three total goal found the back of the net on Thursday night in a neutral-site tilt between Biola Women's Water Polo and No. 20 Brown.

The first-year Eagles held their own against a top East Coast team in the home pool of Biola's Head Coach Sarah Orozco, the Brenda Villa Aquatics Center.

The Bears ultimately ended up victorious by a final score of 19-14 thanks to a big scoring advantage for them in the third quarter.

The visitors out-tallied BU 12-9 in the first half and 5-2 in the third quarter to build a commanding 17-11 lead heading into the final frame that was too much to overcome even though Biola won the fourth quarter.

The Brown offense was led by a nine-point outburst from Zoe King who had six goals and three assists. King found her way to the East Coast from California, growing up near Santa Clara.

Biola had some big scorers as they tried to match pace. Maria Roldan Gonzalez had three goals and a trio of assists to lead with six points, while three other Eagles had five points each ( Hanna Jordan, Lizzy Birch, Kourtney Pyle).

Jordan had the goal of the game as she scored from well past half-pool with one second left in the first half to bring Biola back within three.

Brown's largest lead of the game was seven goals late in the fourth quarter but Biola accounted for the last two scores of the game (Pyle, Roldan Gonzalez) to get back relatively close.

Biola never led in this match but did manage to force a tie score on a few occasions early in the contest.

The win is the 20th of the year for Brown. Biola drops to 9-15 with just two matches left on the regular season, both against Fresno Pacific.

The first comes at FPU this Saturday at 2 p.m.
