Box Score
HAYWARD, Calif. — For the first time in program history Biola Women's Water Polo played an overtime contest as we once again saw how thin the margin of difference was between the Eagles and CSU East Bay.

The Pioneers, the home team, ended up with the advantage in OT ultimately earning a 23-19 victory. Biola is now 1-2 against CSUEB this season with one more regular season match scheduled against East Bay.

As the final score indicates, the game was an offensive slugfest all throughout, winding up tied 17-17 through the first 32 minutes and requiring extra time to determine the winner.

Biola used a huge fourth quarter to force overtime. The Eagles were down 11-7 at halftime and had a four-goal differential in front of them headed into the final eight minutes of the game as well.

The Eagles outscored the Pioneers 5-1 in that fourth quarter to bring it level. Veralie Naranjo was responsible for the exciting game-tying run as she netted one with two seconds remaining in regulation. It was one of two goals in the match for Naranjo.

Kourtney Pyle was the one to do the bulk of the damage for the Eagles as she set a new program-best for goals in a single game with eight.

All but one of Pyle's eight tallies came in regulation time as Biola could only muster two goals total in the overtime period. The Pioneers scored the first five goals of that overtime frame to get the decisive big advantage early on.

Maria Roldan Gonzalez and Hanna Jordan continued their strong offensive play as of late as each had three goals in the match.

Biola will file this one in its memory and move on quickly as they look ahead to a three-match week. The Eagles (7-13) begin the week with two matches at the University of La Verne. They'll play Ottawa (8-14) and La Verne (10-7) at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m.
