LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Head Coach Sarah Orozco sure was not too scared to schedule tough opponents despite being in the program's first year. She chose teams she knew would bring Biola's level of play up and help the team grow at a rapid pace in first year.

Saturday's contest against the hosting No. 18 Loyola Marymount Lions was no different. It was the seventh time in Biola's first 17 games that Biola faced an opponent that was either ranked or receiving votes in the CWPA poll.

The Lions scored the first seven goals of the game and held Biola scoreless in the first half en route to the eventual 11-4 victory. Biola won all four sprints, but was only able to cash in on four of its 23 shots in the match, making it hard to keep pace with LMU, especially early in the contest.

Loyola Marymount, conversely, was having an excellent shooting performance. The Lions had one of their best performances of the year by converting on 48 percent of their shots (11-for-23).

Veralie Naranjo had half of Biola's goals, scoring twice. However, her effort was indicative of just how this match went for Biola as she had to shoot the ball seven times to record those two scores.

Naranjo's second goal started the best run of play for Biola as BU scored the final three goals in the contest. Naranjo scored a penalty shot with 3:49 left in the game and that was followed by a power play goal from Lizzie Birch and then an even strength tally from Maria Roldan Gonzalez inside the final minute of play.

The loss moves Biola to 5-12 while LMU improved to 9-7 with its fifth win in a row. Up next for the Eagles is a rematch with WWPA foe CSU East Bay (7-11) at 2 p.m.
