Road Rallies

Biola men’s basketball made it back-to-back road wins on Monday, while extending its winning streak to seven.

OAKLAND, Calif --- Seven games and seven wins defined Biola's recent slate, as the team tackled Holy Names (5-15, 3-9 PacWest) on Monday night, 85-74. The double-digit win secured a spot for BU (18-4, 12-3 PacWest) in the PacWest Conference Tournament at the end of the season.

The first half game plan was clear for the Eagles: Give the ball to Alex Wright. The offense worked through the guard, as he piled on 18 points in the opening 20 minutes of action. Efficiency was key for Wright who sank seven field goals on 11 attempts.

The 39-26 halftime lead for Biola was actually a product of the defensive effort from the Eagles. 30 field goal attempts came in from the hosting Hawks and they converted on those shots at a 26.7 percent rate.

Biola turned things up after the 13 minute mark, as they led by just three points. The visiting Eagles responded with an 18-6 run to take control, thanks to 13 points from Wright. Wright was the lone contributor on offense for two minutes, scoring seven-straight points for BU.

The second half brought more Biola control. The Eagles reached a game-high lead of 21 points three times through the first 10 minutes after the break.

Despite struggling from beyond the arc with just one three-pointer on nine attempts, BU found a way to post 46 points in the second half. Chris Rossow was leading the attack from his point guard position. Rossow logged 15 points in the 20 minutes, while going 6-9 from the field.

The BU lead never dropped below nine in the final stretch of Monday's contest. Maximo Milovich finished off his strong performance with a dunk for the final points of the contest, giving Biola the 85-74 win.

MIlovich brought a spark off the bench, logging 27 minutes on the court. The length of the forward was hard to deal with for the Hawks, as Milovich tallied 14 points and a team-high nine rebounds.

Wright and Rossow each pushed past the 20-point threshold on Monday. The duo knocked down 10 field goals apiece with Wright netting 28 points and Rossow 23.

The Eagles will be back on the planks on Saturday at Concordia at 7:30 pm.
