Box Score FRESNO, Calif. — Biola Women's Water Polo closed out its road swing through Fresno with a loss to No. 11 San Jose State, 14-5.

The Eagles battled back from down 4-0 to make the game competitive at the half, trailing just 2-0 after blanking the Spartans in the second period.

Biola scored the first goal of the second half, too, to pull back within one at 4-3. It was Rachel Spadt's second goal of the game and got Biola beginning to think of an upset special.

Unfortunately, after that the Spartans rattled off six-consecutive goals to leap out in front 10-3 midway through the fourth period. Maria Roldan Gonzalez and Kourtney Pyle found a way to score in the final four minutes, but Biola still came short by the nine-goal differential.

The key difference was the 10-3 SJSU advantage in the second half, which was keyed by a balanced and effective offensive attack. The Spartans had goals from eight different players and would shoot .424 in the game.

The loss drops Biola to 2-7 on the season, while the NCAA Division I San Jose State team improves to 8-7 overall.

The Eagles continue to be road Warriors as their next action will be March 4-5 at the Claremont Convergence Tournament. The next home match is March 8 vs. rivals Azusa Pacific.
