Match Recap: Women's Tennis | | Ethan McGarvey, Sports Information Director

Down and Up Sunday

Biola women’s tennis had an action-packed Sunday with a pair of matches in Hawaii.

KAILUA, Hawaii --- Biola women's tennis saw both ends of the spectrum on Sunday. The BU squad (4-1) finished off the Hawaii Invitational with a tough loss to Hawaii Pacific (3-0) and a dominant win over Chaminade (0-3) on Sunday.

The day started with a morning match against No. 13 HPU. Nothing seemed to go BU's way, as the hosting squad zoomed ahead for the 4-0 win. The two teams played to clinch, as HPU logged the first four points to render the other matches unfinished.

Alexandria Mann and Gaby Carvajal brought the bright spots for Biola. Both Eagles tallied a set one win on courts No. 4 and No. 6 before the end of the match cut them short.

A few hours in between matches allowed the Eagles to reset. Biola returned to the court refocused and ready to take care of business against conference foe, Chaminade.

Fortune flipped for BU with the Eagles posting a 4-0 victory. Biola was untouchable, giving up just five games throughout all nine matches.

The doubles point was not up for grabs for very long. Biola posted two 6-0 wins to grab the 1-0 lead with Brooke Fager and Mann and Ines Diaz and Carvajal making quick work of their matchups.

The onslaught continued into singles play with each Eagles player from No. 2 through No. 6 refusing to give up a single game amongst all five matches. Mann, Carvajal and Diaz were the three to finish first and record wins in their single matches. All three singles points wrapped up in 6-0, 6-0 fashion for BU.

Biola will be back in action on Thursday with a matchup on the road against Cal State LA.
