Focusing Forward

Biola turns its attention to the conference opener following 8-0 loss to CSUMB.

LA MIRADA, Calif. — After a thrilling game one, game two was a bit of a struggle for Biola Softball as the Eagles ended the weekend with an 8-0 loss to the surging CSU Monterey Bay Otters (6-1).

Biola's bats were hot early, once again loading the bases with nobody out in their half of the first inning. However, a quick double play and then a strikeout ended the frame with BU off the board, which set the tone for an uphill battle in game two.

CSUMB scored at least one run in each inning between the third and seventh to build itself what equated to the 8-0 final score. The Otters had two runs each in the third, sixth and seventh and utilized 12 hits to build the offensive onslaught.

Biola was held to just two hits and one walk in the contest. Allie Beck and Abie Nowak accounted for the two hits, with Beck extending her hitting streak to seven games.

The loss will be one the Eagles will quickly move on and focus attention to the beginning of PacWest Conference play their next time out.

The Eagles' (5-4) next doubleheader is Feb. 25 at Holy Names (1-8).
