December 20, 2022

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. --- Biola men's water polo added top-tier accolades to its 2022 campaign on Tuesday. The Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches released its list of 2022 All-Americans, naming Nolan Rapp and Maxwell Osborn as First Team selections and Mitchell Carpenter as an honorable mention.

The BU men's water polo team saw a major jump in its 2022 campaign. The Eagles picked up 15 wins on the year in their second season in program history.

The offense was exponentially more productive behind the efforts from Nolan Rapp and Maxwell Osborn. As a team, Biola doubled its goal totals from 2021 with 343 scores in 2022.

First Team ACWPC All-American Maxwell Osborn led the Eagles in goals. The junior found the back of the net 56 times, while adding 20 assists.

Osborn was named Second Team All-WWPA earlier in the offseason. He was efficient inside, sinking 60.0 percent of his shot attempts, while taking the attention of the defense with 60 drawn exclusions.

Rapp was also selected to the ACWPC All-American First Team on Tuesday. The sophomore utility did it all for the Eagles, contributing on offense, defense, and sprints. Rapp was the leader in the clubhouse for points, combining 45 points with 48 assists.

On the defensive end, Rapp led the team with 53 steals. Through 31 appearances, he picked up at least one steal in 23 matches. Rapp also showed his speed in the pool, pacing the team with 24 sprint victories in 2022.

For the second-consecutive season, Mitchell Carpenter was recognized as an ACWPC Honorable Mention All-American. He was heralded as the second-best goal-keeper in NCAA DII with the selection. Carpenter was the lead dog in the net, tallying nearly 700 minutes in the goal with 30 appearances. In total, the sophomore grabbed 261 saves and 35 steals in 2022.
