Box Score SAN RAFAEL, Calif. --- Defense was the name of the game on Saturday with two hard-nosed teams facing off. Dominican (5-7, 3-2 PacWest) hosted the Biola Eagles (3-8, 3-2 PacWest) in the Conlan Center and handed BU a 62-58 loss. BU nearly pulled off a fourth quarter comeback but was edged by the Penguins.

After trailing at halftime by over 10 points, the Eagles needed to turn around and revitalize for a run at the win. Both teams looked to improve on offense, following a sub-45 percent showing from the field through 20 minutes of action.

Biola made its first move with a six-point swing late in the third. A pair of three-point plays cut into the DUC lead, beginning with an and-one from Jaci Bolden. Natasa Radovic added a make from beyond the arc to ensure a single-digit deficit heading into the fourth quarter.

The pressure continued from the Eagles, as the visitors chipped away with more points in the paint and free throws in the first three minutes of the fourth. Sydney Moran provided the big shot, hitting a three-pointer to knot the game at 52. It was the first tie of the game since the first quarter.

With the game even and with 6:45 on the clock, defense was paramount. Over the next six minutes of action, the two teams combined for just eight points, as Dominican took the lead once again at 58-54. BU was unable to find the answer needed and the Penguins landed a few more free throws before a 62-58 finish.

Radovic came out firing on Saturday, scoring the first seven points of the game for Biola. The forward helped BU to an early lead, before the hosting Penguins went on a 13-2 run to go up, 20-14 at the end of the first stanza.

Jordan Rabe led the team with 13 points and was followed closely by Radovic with 10. Radovic also tallied a double-double with 10 rebounds to go along with her strong scoreline.

25 turnovers plagued the Eagles, as the Penguins turned those into 20 points for themselves. The BU defense was just as impressive, holding DUC to 36.9 percent shooting from the field and 25.0 percent shooting from long range.

Biola will be back in action on Monday in a matchup at Academy of Art at 1:00 pm.
