Eagles Prove Strength in Classroom

A trio of Eagles notched CSC academic honors, contributing on the court and thriving in the classroom.

November 23, 2022

LA MIRADA --- The College Sports Communicators announced its Volleyball Academic All-District Teams, honoring student-athletes that model excellence on and off the court. Three Eagles corralled the award, including Madison Beebe, Dominique Kirton, and Emily Smith.

The 2022 Academic All‐District Women's Volleyball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student‐athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All‐America program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

The qualifications for the prestigious honor includes maintaining a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.5, while participating in at least 50 percent of the team's competitions.

The senior Beebe offered an excellent showing on the court in 2022. The outside hitter pulled in a second-straight All-PacWest honor, earning a second-team recognition. In the classroom, Beebe boasted a 3.81 gpa, while majoring in liberal studies elementary education.

Also on the outside attack, Kirton played an important role on the BU offense. The two-time Academic All-PacWest award-winner tacked on 155 kills to rank third on the Eagles. Kirton held a 3.89 gpa, while majoring in public relations and strategic communications.

Smith saw action in 22 matches and brought the power from her outside hitter position. The senior logged 76 kills and a 1.55 kills per set average in 2022. Smith is majoring in business administration and holds a 3.55 gpa.

Academic All‐District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All‐America ballot. First‐, second and third‐team Academic All‐America honorees will be announced in late December.
