November 17, 2022

VISTA, Calif. --- The Eagles offered up their best season in the water in 2022, landing 14 wins through 30 games. A mix of veterans and rookies stepped up in the campaign, as Maxwell Osborn was named Second Team All-WWPA and Gavin Oliver was named to the All-WWPA Freshman Team.

Maxwell Osborn was crucial to the BU offense on the way to the postseason award. He tallied a goal in 24-of-29 games and notched a career-best six goals in a single game. Osborn added at least five goals in three contests, while leading the team in goals with 55 and drawn exclusions with 60.

The impressive totals made for strong marks comparatively across the conference. In the WWPA, Osborn tied for seventh in the league in goals and ranked 10th in points. He also dished out 19 assists, including a season-high of three in a single game.

Gavin Oliver was an all-around talent for the Eagles. The rookie standout improved throughout his first season, ending his year with a goal in seven-straight games. He tabulated 28 goals, 20 assists and 18 steals.

Oliver put together an impressive stretch from September 22-25, totaling 12 goals in six games. Through the span, Oliver scored multiple goals in five of the six contests.

The squad led by head coach Rick Nordell will look to make a splash at the WWPA Championship tournament on Friday, matching up against Fresno Pacific at 9:00 am.

The battle between the eighth-seeded Eagles and ninth-seeded Sunbirds is set to happen at the Burns Aquatics Center at Loyola Marymount. Biola won their matchup during the regular season, taking care of business at home. The fourth period was the difference, as BU outscored FPU, 7-3, in the final eight minutes. Matthew Vinson and Osborn paced the team with three goals each.

The winner between Biola and Fresno Pacific will move on to face top-seeded UC Davis.
