Eagles Cap Season in Texas

The men’s soccer team capped their season in Texas, but have a lot to be proud of with another successful season in the books.

SAN ANTONIO, Tex.---The Biola Men's Soccer Team experienced a narrow 1-0 loss to Midwestern State on Friday night.

"It's tough whenever you go on the road," stated head coach Joey O'Keefe. " But our guys are fighters no matter the score and give the same amount of effort, intensity, purpose and drive."

The ball stayed in the midfield the majority of the first half. Both teams were eager to score first, but ultimately it was Midwestern who prevailed. The Mustangs received an opportunity late in the first half that gave them the edge.

Biola fought to the very last minute, but was unable to find the net in their 1-0 loss. The Eagles had a couple of promising opportunities toward the end, but the Mustangs had a strong defense performance and were successful in thwarting each attempt.

Fifth-year senior JD Gunn did his best to keep his team in the game. The PacWest's Goalkeeper of the Year made one one save in the tight match.

"I want to give all glory to God above anything," reflected Gunn. "This season we were counted out a lot of times, but none of our players ever gave up. I wouldn't want to play with any other guys. We had a special group and I still think that we have one of the top squads in the nation regardless of tonight's outcome."

The Eagles conclude their 2022 season with a lot to be proud of. They have shown continuous growth throughout the season and have made program history by recording their second-consecutive postseason appearance and winning their program's first-ever conference title.
