Biola alumnus Joey O'Keefe became the 11th head coach of the Biola Men's Soccer program in the fall of 2021. Fall 2026 will mark his sixth season leading the Eagles.

Coaching Highlights at Biola
• Guided the Eagles to 1 PacWest Conference regular season title and two NCAA Division II postseason appearances

Through the Years
2025 Biola finished eighth in the PacWest Conference. Goalkeeper Francesco Tricarico earned PacWest Defender of the Week honors, while the Eagles were recognized as the PacWest Team of the Week once during the season.
2024 The Eagles placed seventh in the PacWest Conference and produced four All-PacWest selections. Ethan Hardin and Tomislav Jozinovic earned Second Team honors, while Brennan Furlan and Cruz Navarro were named to the Third Team.
2023 Following the arrival of 18 newcomers, the Eagles laid the foundation for the future. Freshman Luca McGreevey Couchman led Biola with eight goals, the fourth-most in the PacWest, and was named the conference's Freshman of the Year. McGreevey Couchman and Ethan Hardin earned Second Team All-PacWest recognition, while Tom Irion was selected to the Third Team.
2022 O'Keefe guided Biola to one of the most successful seasons in program history. The Eagles captured the program's first PacWest Conference regular-season championship and returned to the NCAA Division II West Regional as the conference's automatic qualifier. Biola's postseason run ended with a hard-fought 1-0 loss to Midwestern State Texas in the opening round.
The Eagles claimed four of the PacWest's six major individual awards, including Player of the Year Kristian Colaci, Defender of the Year Izaac Zausch, Newcomer of the Year Jakob Schnitzler and Goalkeeper of the Year JD Gunn. O'Keefe coached nine All-PacWest selections, six all-region honorees, one D2CCA All-American, one CSC Scholar All-American and 19 Academic All-PacWest selections.
Colaci earned All-America recognition from two organizations after scoring 15 goals, the seventh-most in NCAA Division II. He was also named Biola's Male Athlete of the Year at the annual Eddies Gala.
2021 O'Keefe led the Eagles to one of the top seasons in program history, finishing third in the PacWest Conference—the program's highest conference finish since 2015—and earning Biola's first NCAA Division II West Regional berth.
Biola collected three of the PacWest's six major individual awards, with Izaac Zausch earning Defender of the Year honors, Theo Le Calve being named Newcomer of the Year and Adam Jones receiving Freshman of the Year recognition. O'Keefe also coached eight All-PacWest selections, three all-region honorees, one United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-American, one D2CCA All-American and 20 Academic All-PacWest selections.
Zausch capped his standout junior season by earning United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America and D2CCA All-America honors after playing every minute of the season while contributing three goals and one assist. He was also named Biola's Male Athlete of the Year.
Before Biola
Before his return to Biola, O'Keefe spent two seasons at Westcliff University. In 2019, O'Keefe coached both the inaugural men's and women's soccer teams who, under his guidance, saw immediate success with a combined winning percentage of .863. In 2019 and 2020, O'Keefe helped the men's and women's soccer teams achieve a 19-6-4 combined overall record.
O'Keefe began working with LA Galaxy in 2018 as International Scout whose job was to bring back talent to the Galaxy 2 USL squad. He has maintained his involvement with LA Galaxy over the years and currently serves as an Academy Scout and Team Chaplain.
O'Keefe also left his mark on the men's soccer program at Pacifica Christian High School where he took on the role as head coach in 2017. He served as the head coach of the Tritons for three years and was named Coach of the Year all three seasons.
Playing Career
O'Keefe played in the PDL for three seasons before signing a contract to play professionally in Salzburg, Austria.
O'Keefe is a Biola men's soccer alum who played four seasons with the Eagles from 2012-2015. During his playing career at Biola, he was the GSAC Player of the Year, a NAIA First Team All-American and was selected to an All-GSAC team three times. O'Keefe, a midfielder, scored 28 goals and contributed 21 assists throughout his career.
