Game Recap: Men's Water Polo |

Carpenter Dazzles In Exhibition Win

Biola Men's Water Polo continues its winning ways with a 13-9 advantage over Toronto.

LA MIRADA, Calif. Biola earned a third-consecutive victory in an exhibition match against University of Toronto on Saturday morning. The Eagles scored early and often to build a moderate lead that held throughout the match, making for a relatively stress-free outing.

A hat trick from Kenny Wulf led the Biola scoring as BU dispatched the Varsity Blues by a final score of 13-0. Mitchell Carpenter had another fantastic match in the cage, recording 11 saves including one on a 5-meter penalty shot and another on a tough 1-on-1 lob opportunity.

Carpenter's opponent, Miguel Garcia Alonso, was less successful as he recorded just five saves while allowing 50 percent of Biola's shots from the field to score.

Toronto scored first and even held an early 3-2 lead before the tide turned in favor of BU as Biola scored five consecutive goals to break the game open.

Wulf scored two of his five goals as Biola fell into a routine of cashing in on the many, many 6-on-5 opportunities they were granted by a kickout-prone Toronto side.

A strong third period for the Varsity Blues allowed them to bring the match back within two and make things interesting, but another run of scoring to open the fourth quarter re-established Biola as the favorites. That stretch came courtesy goals from Nolan Rapp, Maxwell Osborn and Matthew Vinson and gave the Eagles a 12-8 advantage with just 2:34 left on the clock.

Vinson, Rapp and Joshua Halopoff each had two tallies for Biola in the winning effort.

Since this was an exhibition contest for Biola, neither the stats nor the victory will count towards BU's season totals.

Up next for BU is a scrimmage against Cuesta College at 4 p.m. Saturday. The game will be live streamed at https://team1sports.com/biola, but no live scoring is available.
