Solid Team Win

The men’s soccer team came together and executed a solid 4-1 team victory over Academy of Art at Paul Goode Field.

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.--- The Biola University men's soccer team jumped ahead of Academy of Art with four minutes remaining in the first half, courtesy of Ethan Hardin and Jakob Schnitzler. Schnitzler sent a long pass toward Hardin who knocked in the game-winning goal Thursday afternoon at Paul Goode Field. The Eagles would continue to score two more goals in their 4-1 victory over the Urban Knights.

The Eagles and Urban Knights were tied in the first frame, 1-1. Biola scored first with a goal by Matteo Napoletano that was assisted by Kristian Colaci in the 20th minute. The Urban Knights would respond four minutes later with a header goal, knotting the game up 1-1.

Hardin and Schnitzler would then score the game-winner (2-1) and the Eagles and Urban Knights would head into halftime.

Biola wasn't content with a one goal lead and went on to score two more.

Napoletano fired in his second goal of the match - third of the season - thanks to the help of Theo Le Calve.

The next Eagles' goal resulted from a combined effort from Adam Jones and Izaac Zausch. A corner kick set the scene. Zausch received the corner kick ball and fired a shot that was blocked and then ricocheted to Jones who drove in the final goal, 4-1.

JD Gunn manned the goal for the Eagles where he picked up three saves and faced 10 shots.

The Eagles improve 3-3-3 overall and 2-0 in the PacWest Conference while the Urban Knights fall 3-7-0 overall and 0-4 in the PacWest. Biola is one of four teams who are undefeated in conference play including: Dominican (3-0), Point Loma (1-0) and Azusa Pacific (1-0).

The Penguins and Eagles will face off on Saturday, October 8 where only one team will remain undefeated. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. at Kennelly Field.
